Marine Project Manager

Phil has been a Master Mariner for 30 years, 27 of these in Offshore Oil and Gas. With a wide range of experience and skills, command and in-country management experience, Phil is a proven all-rounder with fantastic track record in varied marine projects. He has experience as OIM, Warranty Surveyor, Client Rep, Superintendent and Towmaster in the spheres of diving, jack-up, DP vessel and semi-submersible operations. He has experience of all phases of offshore field construction and development, from Survey through to installation, hook up and commissioning.

Master Mariner (Client Rep - NHC Qualified)

Mick Lee has a vast experience and incredible knowledge of the offshore industry and has held roles Offshore as Master of DP HLV’s, CSV’s & DSV’s for 18 years with Subsea7, dispersed with selective periods as a Fleet Manager, Marine & Subsea Consultant and Vessel New-Build Shipyard Liaison.

With 36 years experience in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, GoM and Europe with Swire Pacific Offshore, Acergy & Subsea7, Mick brings an understanding of the offshore industry that is unparalleled. His enthusiasm and passion for an interesting and diverse industry has inspired many and when brought into a project will immediately assure Clients they are in the right hands. Some notable and in depth experience and knowledge is as follows;

  • Installation, Commissioning and Operations of J-lay systems in depths of water up to 1600m
  • S-lay system operations in water depths 16m – 1600m
  • Offshore and Subsea lifts up to 5000t
  • Support of complex Saturation Diving, WROV Operations, Subsea and Topsides construction, Towing, Mooring and Anchor Installations.

With the industry downturn, Mick has taken up the role as President of Birmingham RFU and taking some time out from full time operations. Mick will lead any Marine Project role that requires a vast knowledge of Marine and Offshore operations.

Mick has also completed the IMCA & OGP Recognised Client Representative Course at the National Hyperbaric Centre in Aberdeen.

Shipyard Project Manager

Gareth is a highly educated Marine Engineer who has experience of Project Managing two vessel upgrades for ROV support functions in the USA and Poland.  Gareth worked with us to provide detailed vessel layouts and specifications for our North Sea Clients to help them through the Shipyard modification and Mobilisation process. Gareth also carried out ad-hoc Marine Engineering work as well as vessel & barge On Hire Surveys, Bunker Surveys and Condition Surveys.

Gareth is assisting us on a Contract basis and due to the downturn in the industry, he has returned offshore to gain sea time to advance towards his Chief Engineers Certificate. Gareth is currently working on a Superyacht fitted with ROV’s used for salvage and research.   

Gareth will return to us if a suitable Shipyard project is forthcoming and will continue to help us during his lengthy periods of leave.

Cabling & Trenching Client Representative

Stuart is our cabling expert with 15 years of offshore cable installation and trenching expertise within the oil, gas and renewables industry worldwide. Stuart has held roles in the offshore ROV and Trenching industry from Junior Technician through to Superintendent.

Stuart is very passionate about maintaining offshore operations to their optimum for the Client during cabling and trenching campaigns. He has shown this passion when dealing with difficult seabed conditions and making modifications to ROV & trenching systems on the spot to ensure the project schedule stays on track. Its this passion and experience that makes Stuart a Client Representative that will ensure the Client gets the most from the Project and installation vessel.

Stuart will take the lead on any offshore trenching and cabling project.

 

John D Kernighan

John D Kernighan

Offshore Manager

John has wide experience of offshore and inshore operations within the marine, offshore and renewable energy industry globally and has held a variety of different roles ranging from Superintendent, Client Representative to Marine & Offshore Consultant.

John has over 23 years expertise in marine, offshore & subsea operations and is comfortable dealing with any challenge a customers project can throw at him. John has experience of supporting flexible cable laying, umbilical deployment, mooring installation, diving, top side construction, subsea operations, heavy lifts, salvage, flotel/gangway operations, rock-dumping and survey work.

He is also knowledgeable of DP vessel construction, barge construction and vessel inspection and auditing.

John takes the hands on lead on many of our offshore projects.

Steve Offler

Operations Director

Steve Offler, founded Offler Marine Services Group in 2000, after 15 years experience in the marine, oil and gas sector in a variety of operational roles and is a trusted and well known face in the Marine / Offshore sector.

Over the last 15 years Steve has held a variety of Senior Leadership roles in some fantastic offshore installation and logistically challenging projects with a few highlights:-

  • Construction Manager for the lift and skidding of the 14500t Prirazlomnaya production (Ex-Hutton TLP) deck from floating barges onto a grounded ice caisson at Sevmash Shipyard, Russia. Responsible for mobilisation of all construction equipment; strand jacks, mooring systems, generators, switchboards, tidal ballast system, office space and storage etc.
  • Offshore Construction Manager for the preparation engineering and offshore installation of the OPT Wave Power Buoy system in the Moray Firth.
  • Offshore Construction Manager for the preparation engineering and offshore installation of the ARC’s Tidal Turbine at EMEC
  • Over the last 3 years has also led the project team at Bibby Offshore for the upgrade of vessels to ROVSV’s being built and converted in Polish, Norwegian and USA construction yards.

Steve leads the OMSG operational team and is always looking to “Challenge the Standard” to benefit his Clients technically and commercially.
