Customer Challenge

  • Manage the installation completion of the MCT Tidal Turbine from a moored barge in a tidal environment with current speeds reaching 9.3 knots.
  • Manage a the Construction Team and Air Divers to carry out all necessary completion activities in short duration diving windows around tidal slacks.
  • Operating for a Renewable Energy Client with little exposure of diving and marine operations in the offshore environment.

Key Skills Exhibited

  • Executed this project safely by drawing upon its marine, diving and engineering interface skills developed over 30 years in this sector
  • Drew upon knowledge of diving limitations and the manner in which they operate to successfully complete the subsea interventions
  • Utilising knowledge of mooring systems, replacement and recovery in a challenging energetic marine environment.

Customer Benefits

  • The projects momentum was maintained due to Offler Marine’s ability to mobilise quickly – thereby minimising the customer’s exposure to additional cost and delays against the set programme of works.
  • The customer did not have to seek out a variety of partners to deliver the project, but was able to call upon Offler Marine who were able to perform the installation, manage the existing resource and equipment, without in any way reducing the operational levels of safety.
